Jimmy Kimmel gave Selena Gomez an eyebrow-raising engagement present that she won’t soon forget.
While appearing on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late night host, 57, surprised the Emilia Pérez actor, 32, with something to celebrate her recent engagement to songwriter Benny Blanco that left her speechless.
“It’s not traditional and it’s not necessarily a practical gift, but I think you and Benny are really going to enjoy it,” Kimmel said before pulling out a box. “It’s called the Daddy Saddle.”
On the front of the box was an image of a small child sitting on a saddle that had been strapped onto her dad’s back like a horse.
A stunned Gomez silently laughed while covering her face as she registered the double meaning behind Kimmel’s gift.
“You can ride around on Benny in a very wholesome way. I don’t want you to think that anything is being suggested here that isn’t,” Kimmel joked to Gomez.
“Just imagine yourself here,” Kimmel said, pointing to the little girl in the photo while stating the obvious about how the saddle works, “and Benny right here. Just try to imagine [the dad’s] hair being a lot more curly [like Blanco’s]. And then you on top of him.”
The talk show host then jokingly threw in the fact that the Daddy Saddle might have been a “regift,” while quickly removing a piece of Christmas wrapping paper still stuck to the box.
Gomez’s appearance on the late night show comes on the heels of her riveting night at the Golden Globes on January 5, in which she was nominated for her work in Emilia Pérez and the comedy-drama series Only Murders in the Building.
Last month, the singer announced her engagement to Blanco on Instagram.
She posted a string of photos, including a close up shot of her massive ring and another of Blanco kissing her as she showed off the jewelry. “Forever begins now,” she wrote.
The couple have been romantically linked since June 2023.
