"He'd take coffee, sugar and milk home everyday in little containers. He'd take leftover parts like screws, nuts, bolts, heatshrink, etc from parts kits and sell it at the local markets/swap meet. Even left over sausages, bread and salad from our Thursday BBQ lunches, he would put in a container and take home for dinner. I don't think there was any aspect he overlooked to save a cent. Toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, absolutely everything.

The guy was absolutely as tight as a fishes asshole but apparently that pays off. Perhaps it was learned behaviour from being broke at some point"

"No power, collected his own water, no plumbing, missing windows and floors in some rooms. He cooked on fires and grew/caught most of his food. Also he had an insane collection of magic mushies in honey or dried."

"They'd self organised to the point where there were hidden cupboards with clean containers and they'd literally coordinate among themselves to find who was most needy. Then, those people would get containers left on their desks or popped in fridges with their names on it to use later.

It was bloody magic to see (I worked internal comms at the time so had the inside goss about it), until management got in a tiz."

She was super strapped for cash. She was an older lady, divorced, living on her own, and was obsessed with keeping up with her private health insurance payments so she didn't lose the coverage."

"I've gone from earning almost 6 figures a year while renting in Perth to 30k a year living out bush in my own place (abandoned crack shack of a house). But, I'm saving the same amount of money into my savings and now, building funds each week. 😅

I don't eat out. I don't have a social life/go to social events. I make/grow/fabricate everything I can from scratch (food/tools/equipment/etc). I spend time over money on things. Everything I buy is either posted to me or bought in bulk in big cities.

TLDR: Buy an bush house for 80k, have assets under 390k, and claim the dole —20k per year — with no job search, cause you live out bush. Build yourself a little online business while living like a hermit with no money until you're a Hermit with Money. 🤷‍♂️"

"I could afford rent but couldn't see the point of paying out for nothing. I still had a full time job which made it a bit harder, especially since I had to wait until it was dark to set up my hammock, tent and then pack it up in the morning before going to work. While at the park I got robbed, and had constant problems of foxes and rats stealing my food, but it allowed me to save the money for a campervan which I've lived in ever since. So now, I don't pay rent or mortgage or any utility bills so am now saving tens of thousands of dollars each year and will be able to retire next year. Plus it's nice to know that no matter how bad things get, I can live like that."

This dude had won thousands in cash, a boat, a car, and loads of other stuff. God knows how much he spent on entering these things though, I mean he was working as a waiter in a hotel.
